THOMAS JEFFERSON - A LIBRARIAN
Jefferson - a multi faceted man - maintained and cataloged thousands of books at his home in Virginia. When the city of Washington was set alight in 1812 and the Capital burned, Jefferson sold his library to Congress to start a new library - the forerunner of today's Library of Congress.
Before shipping the books to Washington, Jefferson made a detailed list of the books and how they were cataloged. Today, that same collection of books is being recreated at the Library of Congress. See more information below:

Your Library - Your Thoughts
Hi! Welcome to the RBPL Blog!
A blog can be an interactive means of communication - a two way street - so why not give it a try?
We want to be in touch with you - keeping you informed but also hearing back from you.
We welcome your comments.
